Department of Nephrology, Gandhi medical College has One unit with One Professor, One Associate Professor and One Assistant Professor. There are three MCI recognized DM seats per year. A total of nine students would be involved in departmental activities. Department activities include Patient services, Academics and Publications. Patient services are rendered on 24x7 basis with two DM Post graduates manning the department even in the emergency hours. Total number of hemodialysis given in a year would be 7200, Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and intermittent peritoneal dialysis are done regularly. Live renal transplantations and deceased donor transplantations occur on regular basis. Academics are conducted as per the schedule according to MCI norms. Our department has good number of publications in national and international journals. Few of the Postgraduates have won prizes for their presentations in regional and national conferences. Post graduate work was presented for the prestigious National Tanker award presentation during the year 2017.Hemodialysis services to the poor and needy under Aarogyasree scheme were started with twenty two machines in 7th floor, Gandhi Hospital in the year 2009. As of today, services are being rendered by Dmed group with twenty machines. It is prestigious to know that this program was launched with single dialyser use program by the Government of Telangana with an intention of delivering better dialysis services to the poor.
